Bhagvad Geeta in Tihar Prison

Devotion and Salvation Universal Values and MoralityScientific Wisdom Indian Traditional Wisdom

By the name prison, the common perception would be "oh , a dungeon for the most wretched and profligate individuals who have committed atrocious acts". Partially true. Of course , they are in prison because of commission of abominable acts but the aspect that proplled them to commit crime is ignorance . I am not at all defending . One has to inevitably undergo the pain and sufferings for the sins committed and that's the law of nature administered by the Almighty . I am just exhibiting the facts and the scenarios .

As we have been conducting character transformational programmes at Tihar Prions , we could assess the mindset and idiosyncrasies of the inmates lodged there. A statistical veracity is that around 78% of the inmates under incarceration are first timers and not habitual offenders . Living under the illusion and darkness that financial prosperity can be achieved through any means , a person commits a horrendous crime not knowing about the repercussions of the action. In Bhagvad Geeta , Lord Krishna had categorically stated that there are three doors of hell. Kaam , Kroadh, Lobh or one can say Moh. I call them the weapons of self destruction.

As weapons have characteristics to kill and devastate , one has to destroy these weapons residing in the mind and cleanse the mind of these vicious and venomous complexes. Even the slightest of residue of these dreadful complexes in mind can lead to severe downfall or occurrence of another catastrophe. The most powerful and eternal means which could destroy the weapons of Kaama , (Lust) Kroadh(anger) and Lobh (greed) or moha ( untenable desire) is Bhakti, Devotion, worship; Complete surrender to Lord Krishna .

Such a state would not only extirpate the brutal complexes present in mind but would also illuminate the mind with righteous knowledge , a knowledge that would enhance the overall personality of a person. The knowledge with which a person would be able to attain the divine bliss, the transcendental stage, the ultimate state of bonding with Krishna .

Lord Krishna had stated " You engage yourself in devotional service of humankind in a sphere of complete surrender. I shall absolve you from all sins and endow you with the sacrosanct divine knowledge through which You would be able to enter my abode and would get emancipated from the cycle of birth and death.
