Renunciation

Renunciation cannot be a fad or an innovative trend based on one’s wishes. Renunciation is a practice to become disciplined. It is a practice to attain spiritual elevation. In human beings, mind is the store house of thoughts, sensations, complexes etc. Every second a thought arises in mind. It can be good or bad. One needs to just observe the thought and not react to it because if reacted then either attachment or aversion would enter both of which are hazardous for the health of mind.

In the same way, works will appear in front of a person carrying good qualities or bad qualities. A knowledgeable renounced person situated in Satvik Guna would neither hate the unpleasant work nor get attached to a work that would be pleasant or auspicious. He/she would complete the work as responsibility dedicating the karma to God Krishna.

A true abnegator would always be detached to the fruits of work and concentrate on the quality and righteousness of the work discharged. The person would know that he/she does not have any control over the fruits of actions as the fruits of actions is bestowed upon the individuals by GOD Krishna based on the quality of the action performed. Such an intelligent and a true abnegator (a person who has renounced) would be unflappable, decisive and free from all ambiguities.

Lord Krishna shares the practical wisdom killing all delusions. He states that it is impossible for a human being to relinquish all activities but the one who renounces the fruits of actions is indeed a true abnegator. HE says that a person who does not follow the path of renunciation would have to obtain the desired, undesired or mixed fruits of his work after death. However, the abnegator who is completely detached from the fruits of work , would never have to bear the outcome of his work in any phase of time.

A person who aspires for a favourable outcome of every action that he /she discharges would always be restless and anxious. In case of an unfavourable outcome of his actions, he would get annoyed and dejected. In the wake of desired fruits of actions, the person would jubilate and in the case of mix response by the nature, the person would wear a despondent look. The person would be a puppet at the hands of nature and his tendency to aspire for fruits of actions would make him distraught and weak.

A person who always wishes for fulfillment of all desires and fruits of work brushing aside GOD’s act of governance would certainly be pusillanimous in character and would lead a life full of self created conflicts.

On the other hand, a person who leads a renounced life abnegating all fruits of work having knowledge about God’s administration would never react to the vicissitudes of life. The person would not rejoice at the receipt of something desired nor would he lament for having to bear the undesired.
