What is self?

Meditation BasicsMeditative TraditionsMeditation PracticesScience and MeditationMindful Meditation and MovementMindfulness PracticesSensory ConsciousnessMindfulness Treatments & Therapies Awakening of ConsciousnessWisdom and Experience

That which is inert are 5 elements,
That which is born and dies is body,
That which sees is eyes, hears is ears, touch is skin, speak is tongue, smells is nose,
That which attains to delusion in form of lust, greed, confusion, doubt etc is mind,
That which is storage of past impressions is memory,
That which is modification of avidya is ego,

Then,
That what is left is self,
This very self is Brahman, who is not inert, who does not dies, who is not born, who is not subjected to delusion, who transcends past impressions and actions, who is not seer, hearer, smeller, toucher, speaker, who is away from avidya and it's modifications but the one owing to which these all are possible, the end substratum of everything, the screen of awareness, the infinite sky of conciousness, the steady light of existence.

Then in return,
Everything existing in this self is but self since they all are mere superimpositions.

This is self which does not admits duality..
