What is pranayama according to Hindu scriptures and its benefits?

    Benefits are control of mind, which bestows self control self discipline, steadiness which is a pre requisite for further seeking of supreme truth which leads to moksha or liberation.

    However there are some physical benefits which are not the main goal they are side benefits of this practice, main goal is control of mind and seeking knowledge of truth.
